Notice regarding Lawsuit in the U.S.

February 3, 2012

On September 8, 2005 (US Eastern Daylight Time), a US company, Anvik Corporation (President: Dr. Kanti Jain) filed a lawsuit with the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York against: Nikon Corporation (having its principal place of business in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Makoto Kimura); Nikon Precision Inc. which is a 100% subsidiary of Nikon Corporation (having its principal place of business in Belmont, California, President: Takao Naito) and; Nikon Research Corporation of America (having its principal place of business in Belmont, California, President: W. Thomas Novak) for the alleged infringement of the patents owned by Anvik Corporation pertaining to LCD lithography systems.

Procedures of the litigation moved on, and we are now announcing that a jury trial will start on May 7, 2012 in the U.S.

We believe that Nikon does not infringe any of the alleged patents and that the claims of Anvik Corporation are incorrect and unsupported. In the jury trial, Nikon will argue that our position is correct.

In addition, the lawsuit will have no impact on the Nikon’s consolidated performance for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2012.

The information is current as of the date of publication. It is subject to change without notice.
