Newly selected for the highest rank, “A List,” by the CDP's climate change questionnaire

TOKYO - Nikon Corporation (Nikon) is pleased to announce that it has been newly selected for the highest rank “A List^*1” by the CDP's climate change questionnaire, recognizing it as one of the highest performing companies in its efforts against climate change and its disclosure.

CDP is a global non-profit that drives companies and governments to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources and protect forests. Voted number one climate research provider by investors and working with institutional investors with assets of US$96 trillion, we leverage investor and buyer power to motivate companies to disclose and manage their environmental impacts. Over 8,400 companies with over 50% of global market capitalization disclosed environmental data through CDP in 2019. This is in addition to the over 920 cities, states and regions who disclosed, making CDP's platform one of the richest sources of information globally on how companies and governments are driving environmental change.

The Nikon Group contributes to building a sustainable society by positioning the realization of a low-carbon society, a resource circulating society, and a healthy and environmentally safe society as the Nikon Group's Long-Term Environmental Vision. Based on this vision, we have been implementing various measures with a medium-term goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions throughout the entire supply chain by 26% by FY 2030 compared with the FY 2013 level to address climate change. We are also working to respond to international initiatives, such as setting SBT (Science Based Targets)^*2 and disclosing information in accordance with the TCFD (the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures)^*3 recommendations. We believe that those efforts led to the honorable evaluation.
