Notice regarding rejection of password-protected ZIP files
Nikon Group hereby announces that it will no longer be accepting password-protected ZIP files.
After May 21, 2025, if a password-protected ZIP file is attached to an e-mail sent to an e-mail address of any employee or member of the Nikon Group, the attached file will be automatically deleted, leaving the main text of the e-mail.
Since the password-protected ZIP files are encrypted, it is difficult to check for malware when receiving e-mails, and there have been confirmed cases where the files were used as a route for malware infection.
Based on this, Nikon Group will no longer accept password-protected ZIP files attached to e-mails, in order to further strengthen information security for our group, our customers, and all related parties such as business partner companies.
The target regions are Japan and Asia (excluding the Chinese Mainland). They do not include the Americas or Europe.
For appropriate file transfer methods, please consult recipient of your e-mail.
We understand that this may cause inconvenience to customers and all related parties such as business partner companies. However, we hope that you understand that this is a measure to strengthen information security. We appreciate your continued cooperation.
