Nikon Revised Human Rights Policy

On April 1, 2025, Nikon Corporation (hereinafter "Nikon") revised its "Nikon Human Rights Policy." This policy, based on the corporate philosophy of "Trustworthiness and Creativity," outlines Nikon Group's approach and initiatives to respect the human rights of all stakeholders involved in its business activities.

Background of the Revision
Nikon revised the human rights policy, originally established on April 1, 2019, to respond to societal demands and changes in business content on April 1, 2025. This revision is based on international standards, including the United Nations "Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights," aiming to respect the human rights of all stakeholders involved in its business activities and to further promote sustainable business practices.
Main Revisions
- Expansion of Scope:
Clarified that all stakeholders involved in business activities are covered. - Identification of Important Human Rights Issues:
Conducted human rights impact assessments in light of the current social and business environment, and specified initiatives for six newly identified important human rights issues (health and safety, working environments, workers' human rights in the supply chain, zero tolerance for child labor and forced labor, ethical use of AI, and access to remedy). - Strengthening Governance
Clarified oversight by the Board of Directors. - Establishment of Remedy Mechanisms
Established a new section on remedies in its policy, specifying efforts to set up grievance mechanisms for all stakeholders as one of the important human rights issues. - Continuous Improvement
Clarified efforts for continuous improvement through dialogue with stakeholders and regular review of the human rights policy.
