Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce the release of the COOLPIX P100 and L110 with high-power zoom NIKKKOR lens for macro to super-telephoto shooting. The COOLPIX P100 is a P-series camera equipped with a 26x optical zoom lens that offers authentic shooting enjoyment, and the COOLPIX L110, a fun and reliable L-series camera with a 15x zoom lens, is powered by AA-size batteries that support recording of a great number of still images and movies.

The COOLPIX P100 and L110 are compact digital cameras equipped with an optimized image processing engine based on Nikon's own image processing concept, EXPEED, and a high-power zoom NIKKOR lens.

Nikon COOLPIX P100 Primary Features

1.A 26x optical zoom NIKKOR lens that covers a broad focal range of wide-angle 26mm through super-telephoto 678mm (35mm format equivalent)

Equipped with an incredible 26x optical zoom NIKKOR lens, this camera supports shooting at a broad range of focal lengths with 35mm format equivalent angles of view of 26mm up to 678mm. In addition, macro shooting as close as 1 cm (0.4 in.) to the lens is also possible. When digital zoom is added to the maximum optical zoom ratio, shooting at a 35mm format equivalent angle of view of 2712mm is supported.

2.Technologies that enable excellent image quality: CMOS image sensor with backside illumination structure, Backlit Scene HDR (high dynamic range) mode, which makes the most of continuous shooting technologies, and an advanced Night Landscape scene mode

The COOLPIX P100 is equipped with a number of new technologies and functions that enable capture of images exhibiting excellent image quality.

CMOS sensor with backside illumination structure:

The camera is equipped with a CMOS sensor with backside illumination structure that increases the amount of light that each pixel receives. This enables capture of images exhibiting less noise at the high sensitivities required for night landscapes and pictures taken indoors under dim lighting.

Backlit Scene HDR (high dynamic range) mode:

A new Backlit Scene HDR scene mode has been added to enable capture of intended photographs. When this mode is selected, the camera combines multiple images captured with continuous shooting to create an image with a broader dynamic range for beautiful photos with less loss of detail in highlights and shadows, even when the subject is backlit.

Advanced Night Landscape mode:

When Night Landscape scene mode is selected, the camera automatically captures several images and then combines the images to create a single optimized photo. This allows for the capture of beautiful night landscapes that exhibit less blur and noise.

3.High-speed continuous shooting functions that enable continuous shooting of images at the maximum size (10 MP) at 10 fps and sport continuous mode, which allows for continuous shooting at up to approximately 120 fps

High-speed continuous shooting of images at the maximum 10-MP size (3648 x 2736) at 10 fps and sport continuous mode, which allows for continuous shooting at up to approximately 120 fps*, are possible. Sport continuous mode improves the chances of capturing the perfect picture with a Pre-Shooting Cache function that records up to five shots just before the shutter is released.

4.Full HD movie recording and playback functions

The COOLPIX P100 is equipped with a function for recording full HD movies with stereo sound(1080p:1920 x 1080). Movie recording can be initiated by simply pressing the movie-record button on the back of the camera. The HS movie function provides the added benefit of recording movies that can be played back in slow motion or fast motion. Movies recorded with the camera can be enjoyed in their original high-definition quality by connecting the camera to the HDMI port on a high-definition TV.

5.A 3-in., approximately 460k-dot vari-angle Clear Color Display simplifies shooting from a variety of angles

The camera is equipped with a vari-angle monitor that improves operation and increases flexibility with shooting from conventionally difficult angles. The monitor can be tilted 82 degrees downward and 90 degrees upward for simpler shooting from a variety of angles.

6.5 features that effectively prevent or reduce blur caused by camera shake and subject movement*

The COOLPIX P100 supports high sensitivities up to ISO 3200 and offers an image-sensor shift vibration reduction function, motion detection, Nikon's own BSS (best shot selector) function, and also offers a new vibration reduction that combines the image-sensor shift system with electronic vibration reduction. The secure grip also helps to reduce camera shake.

Nikon COOLPIX L110 Primary Features

1.A 15x optical zoom NIKKOR lens that covers a broad focal range of wide-angle 28mm through super-telephoto 420mm (35mm format equivalent)

Equipped with a 15x optical zoom NIKKOR lens, this camera supports shooting at a broad range of focal lengths with 35mm format equivalent angles of view of 28mm up to 420mm. This lens supports a wide variety of everyday scenes, from close-ups of people to dynamic landscape shots. Macro shooting as close as 1 cm (0.4 in.) to the lens is also possible.

2.Powered by efficient AA batteries for hours of photo and movie recording

Up to approximately 840 still images or 7 hours of HD movies can be recorded with the supplied Energizer^® Ultimate Lithium AA batteries (FR6/L91)^* Utilizing convenient and readily available AA batteries means that the batteries can be easily replaced, anytime and anywhere, should the current batteries become exhausted.

• *Recording stops automatically after 29 minutes. This figure is based on in-house testing standards and stated for recording at 25° C with AA-size/R6 lithium batteries. Actual results may vary greatly depending on factors that include differences in ambient temperature, and the amount of zoom and autofocus operations used.

3.HD movie recording functions

The camera is equipped with a function for recording HD movies with stereo sound. When the camera is connected to the HDMI port on a high-definition TV, movies recorded with the camera can be enjoyed in their original high-definition quality.

In addition to support for sensitivities up to ISO 6400, the Q09005 offers an image-sensor shift vibration reduction function, motion detection, Nikon's own BSS (best shot selector) function, and is the first L-series camera to offer a new vibration reduction that combines the image-sensor shift system with electronic vibration reduction. All of these features help to prevent or reduce blur caused by camera shake and subject movement.

5.Easy Auto mode for simple operation

The camera makes capturing beautiful photos simple with Easy Auto mode. By simply framing a subject, the camera automatically select the appropriate scene mode.

In addition to face-priority AF, the camera offers additional advanced functions that make beautiful portraits possible, including a function that automatically releases the shutter when a face it has recognized smiles, the blink proof function and red-eye reduction.
