Respect for Human Rights

Main initiatives and results in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2016

71 companies
With the goal of monitoring human rights and labor management, Nikon conducted a survey at 71 group companies covering a wide range of human rights issues, including cases of discrimination and child and youth labor. It also took steps to raise awareness of related policies and identify possible violations at an early stage.

The impact that corporations have on human rights issues worldwide is growing now that corporate activities are becoming increasingly borderless. Accordingly, companies are expected to take initiatives for preventing violations of human rights. In this context, Nikon established the Nikon CSR Charter, Nikon Code of Conduct, and Nikon Group HR Vision, and has been promoting the basic human rights of all people involved in its business, beginning with workers, while working to eliminate any cases of discrimination, harassment, forced labor, child labor, or other related violations. Likewise, Nikon makes concerted efforts to ensure that the Nikon Group does not participate in any activities that could result in harming others.
