TOKYO - Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce the introduction of the new AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED.
The new lens, which offers a focal range of 24-120mm only available from Nikon, and incorporates advanced features such as SWM (Silent Wave Motor) and VR (Vibration Reduction), is even smaller than its predecessor, the AF Zoom-Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6D IF.
The AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6 IF-ED was developed in response to the demands from mid- and higher-range SLR users for a more affordable, highly portable high-power VR zoom lens.
This new lens incorporates Nikons exclusive built-in SWM for ultra-fast, ultra-quiet operation, and the VR system which minimizes blur caused by camera shake. The VR system allows the use of a low shutter speed in dimmer conditions.
The new lens offers 5x high-power zoom capability and wideangle coverage from 24mm. It also features Nikons world-renowned optics in the form of two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass and two aspherical lens elements. The lens adopts the Internal Focusing (IF) design, and employs M/A mode for rapid switching between autofocus and manual focus operation.
This G-type Nikkor lens is designed with no aperture rings, and offers easier, virtually mistake-free operation because the aperture does not need to be set to minimum.
Note: G-type Nikkor lens is fully compatible with the F5, F100, F80, F75, F65, F55, D1-series and D100 cameras.
