Feb. 15, 1999

AF-S28-70mmf/2.8D IF-ED

Nikon Corporation will release
the AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 28-70mm f/2.8D IF-ED, an AF SLR camera lens with a built-in Silent Wave Motor (SWM) for AF operation that enhances high-speed, high-precision AF performance and high-quality optical performance.

Features

High-speed, high-precision AF performance and high-quality optical performance

  • Nikon's exclusive Silent Wave Motor (SWM) provides quick response, as well as high-precision AF photography with hushed mechanical sound.

  • Advanced Focus Tracking enables fast-moving subjects, such as athletes in sporting events, to be photographed clearly.

  • A newly designed optical system allows superior optical performance and utilizes two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glasses. An aspherical lens of molded glass minimizes distortion and results in higher resolution and superior contrast.

  • The rounded diaphragm opening (9 blades) makes out-of-focus images appear more natural.

  • Nikon's exclusive IF (Internal Focusing) ensures a closer focusing distance (0.5m throughout zoom range)

Easy operation suitable for many occasions

  • The M / A mode allows switching from autofocus to manual focus with virtually no time lag, even during AF servo operation

  • No power is consumed during manual focus operation

  • The filter attachment does not rotate during focusing or zooming
