The Nikon 35mm / IX240 Film Scanner COOLSCAN III
Another great leap forward in film scanner performance

Jun. 1998

LS-30

Tokyo, Japan (Nippon) 1998-06-15 --- Nikon proudly announces yet another milestone in the progress of film scanning technology.
Following up on the release of the ultrahigh-performance SUPER COOLSCAN 2000,
Nikon presents the 10-bit A/D, 2,700-dpi COOLSCAN III.

The COOLSCAN III incorporates technology that delivers the high image quality and functionality that have become the standard for Nikon scanning products.
The COOLSCAN III boasts high scanning speed and multi-format (35mm[135] / IX240(Advaced Photo System ™) film) flexibility.

High-resolution scanning at 2,700 dpi can be performed in only 20 seconds (without the transfer of data to a computer).
Furthermore, the small size (footprint) and light weight of the COOLSCAN III allow users to situate the scanner in the most convenient location, and to easily relocate it when necessary.

Photo ImageFix

"CleanImage ™" function*, a revolutionary new scanning technology, also found in its predecessor, the SUPER COOLSCAN 2000, automatically removes imperfections such as dust, scratches, fungus and fingerprints from scanned color film's images.

Nikon's "CleanImage™" function adopts "Digital ICE (Image Correction Enhancement)™" technology developed by Applied Science Fiction Inc. (U.S.A.)
It only applies to color films.

The Nikon Color Management System performs the optimal color adjustment for the final output device, and near-perfect reproduces the color of the original film on the output device monitor.

And for scanning 35mm [135] format slide mounts, slides, film strips or IX240 (Advanced Photo System ™) film (optional), adapters are available (IX240 FILM ADAPTER IA-20 is optional) that are easily mounted on the front of the scanner.

The new scanning software "Nikon Scan Ver.2" is a Photoshop™ plug-in for Mac OS™ and a TWAIN source for Windows® users.

And for scanning 35mm [135] format slide mounts, film strips or IX240 (Advanced Photo System ™) film adapters are available (IX240 FILM ADAPTER IA-20 is optional) that are easily mounted on the front of the scanner.
