Also called Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation. Radiation emitted when the universe used to be very hot. Some 300 thousand years after the Big Bang, electrons that had inhibited light to travel in a straight line were captured by atoms, allowing radiation to travel straight. The radiation then emitted cooled down to the temperature of 3K with the expansion of the universe, becoming observable for the first time. This observable radiation is known as 3 Degree Kelvin Background Radiation.
A NASA program to accurately measure CMB radiation. In 2001 a satellite was launched, and in 2003 detailed radiation measurements were released.
